Unlike foundations from years past, today's foundations have a lot to offer. Years ago you had your basic liquid foundation and stick foundation. Today, we have non oily, water based, stick, loose powder, pressed powder, (with minerals) and sheer moisture foundations and dry/wet powder foundations. The new thing is anti-aging foundations. So, we've come a long way from yesteryear. The technology today is endless.

Even the new liquid foundations contain wonderful ingredients of botanicals, vitamins and anti-aging ingredients.  We even have sheer glowing foundations as well as wonderful, exceptionally lite foundations with a sun protection factor. The new air brushed foundations are also great as well as the new photo ready foundations. Therefore, you have a wide range to choose from.

Applying foundation as a liquid can be applied with a foundation brush or a foundation wedge applicator. I would definately apply a light brush of loose powder over it to set it. If you have very dry skin, I'd suggest the oil based. If you have oily then use the water based. Getting the right color is very important. You would first apply the liquid on your chin line down the neck on the side of your face. This is the best way to match it to your skin. If you do not see a difference in the color of the foundation to your skin, then that's what you should go with. Always, I repeat, always, use a moisturizer under your foundation no matter what kind you use. That is imperative.

The new thing today is mineral foundations, which are basically in powder form, although now they are in liquid form as well. I love the powder mineral foundations in the pressed powder. I use it every day. What's so nice about it is that it's talc free and has a sun protection factor in it. It really makes your skin look fabulous. Not only that, it deflects the light so you won't see any imperfections.The loose powder is good also, but according to Dr. Oz, whom I love, says you can breath  the loose particles into your lungs as it flies around, whereas pressed is much better. This is up to your liking.

The powder foundations that can be used with a damp sponge,  which is included in the compact, is another great product. Although, is not a  mineral foundation and the sponge may be used later on in the day as a powder touch up.

In the summer, I like the sheer mineral liquid foundations for the daytime, especially if I'm on the beach or in the sun. A good spf is very protective for your skin and it just makes your skin  glow and feels completely bare, as if nothing is on it.

Although, my favorite is the pressed powder mineral foundation, and boy, do I get a lot of compliments on my skin.
